I've decided, in the interest of both sanity and avoiding sleep deprivation, to change Katana Blade to a M-W-F update schedule for now. This will also give me some extra time to work on the pages each update cycle instead of having to slap them together at the last minute. I'll even be able to do a bit of marketing and promotion on weekends this way - although I am a total slacker and did none of that this weekend, LOL.<br /><br />Anyway, on with the comic. Here's Monday's update (I'll try to get them posted the night before Update Day if possible). Things are just getting going, and we're wrapping up this scene this week. Next week, there'll be some new characters to meet, and the ones we've met so far will finally be formally introduced. I'm late. Very late. Up way past my bedtime and all that.<br /><br />I can explain. Each one of these panels took a LOT of work to finish. The 3D software only does so much. I had to add the wheel blur and tire smoke to the first panel and all 3 panels are actually 2 separate renders each, blended together to form each finished panel. So the page took literally twice as long to create as normal. However, as you can see by the finished product, it was totally worth it. I'm quite pleased with how well this page turned out.<br /><br />Anyway, I still have a day job to do in the morning so I'd better just post this and get my butt to bed. Took the day off, spent all day getting the family car fixed, and THEN sat down for about 4 and half hours getting page 4 done. Although you can't tell from here just yet, the limo they are riding in is fully detailed inside and out. With all the clothing objects, buildings, cameras and the characters themselves, theres at least thirty individual objects in these panels. Page one.<br /><br />Here's some background on this comic. This comic is a story that I've actually had kicking around for a few years and never really did anything with. I decided it was now or never, so I started putting it together a couple weeks ago and am finally ready to start cranking out pages.<br /><br />You may notice some things don't quite look hand drawn. The reason for that is... it's not! Instead of drawing each panel by hand, I use a 3d program and special rendering shaders to create a traditional comic look. As the comic goes on, I'll take a break here and there to show you some of the tricks of the trade so you can try your hand at 3D comic creation too. (OK, if I do that, it means I fell behind. Ahem.)<br /><br />This is about 2 days worth of modifying and arranging models, then one day to render and arrange it. Didn't I say I'd do a page a day?
